After winning the "Golden Steering Wheel 2021", the Skoda ENYAQ iV was nominated for the "Car of the Year" award. The prize has been awarded annually by nine European automotive specialist magazines since 1963. From a total of 65 nominated new products from the past twelve months, the Skoda ENYAQ iV qualified as one of the seven best models for the final. An international jury of experts made up of 61 automotive journalists from 23 European countries will vote on the winner. The 'Car of the Year 2022' will be announced in Geneva at the end of February 2022.
The 'Car of the Year' award is one of the most important automobile awards in Europe and has been presented annually since 1963. Initially, the preliminary list for 'Car of the Year 2022' comprised 65 new vehicles that had been unveiled over the past twelve months. However, seven finalists have now been selected: after the Skoda OCTAVIA last year, the ENYAQ iV, another Skoda model, has made it to the finals. The jury consists of 61 specialist journalists from 23 European countries; the number of members per country depends on the size of the respective market: six jurors each come from Germany, France, Great Britain, Italy, and Spain. The award ceremony will take place at the end of February 2022.
The fully-electric Skoda ENYAQ iV is the Czech manufacturer's most significant step in implementing its electrification strategy. The SUV is the first Skoda production model based on the Modular Electrification Kit (MEB) from the Volkswagen Group and is being built at Skoda's main plant in Mladá Boleslav. This makes the Skoda ENYAQ iV electric SUV the only MEB model in Europe that is manufactured outside of Germany. It has rear-wheel or all-wheel drive, and there are five power levels from 109 to 220 kW and three battery sizes to choose from.
The nomination as one of the last seven models for the 'Car of the Year' award is another success for the Skoda ENYAQ iV. Furthermore, it was awarded the internationally renowned "Golden Steering Wheel 2021" as the best electric SUV in November.
