Customers of Ford's high-performance Mustang Mach-E can rejoice! The famous electric SUV has recently been certified for roof loads, meaning you can now toss a roof box, kayak, or bicycle on top.

The ability to transport cargo on the roof of an electric vehicle is by no means guaranteed. With the approval and the new update, customers of the Ford Mustang Mach-E electric SUV can now use the roof when they go on adventures, which was previously almost impossible. Ford Mustang Mach-E models' carrying capacity with a panoramic roof drops from 75 kg to 65 kg.

The digital owner's manual (available in the FordPass app) can be updated over the air to confirm the vehicle is safe for roof loading without any additional modifications. Before the updated instruction manual is made available, customers who wish to use roof loads need only contact their local dealer, who will issue physical documentation for approval at no additional cost. Naturally, this also applies to Ford Mustang Mach-Es that have already been sold.

The Ford Mustang Mach-E trailer's weight has been increased from 750 kg to 1000 kg on long-range models so that they can take advantage of roof load (but not on the Ford Mustang Mach-E GT, which needs to be seen as an electric sports car even if it's not). This includes brand-new and previously-owned models. Don't hesitate to contact your local Ford dealer if you are a Ford customer and need to get the new trailer weight approved. @via Ford.
